Hevea Guide

Rubber that comes from trees

1) Did you know that rubber comes from a plant?

Unlike plastic or silicone (petroleum-derived), HEVEA rubber is 100% plant-based. It comes from the "milk" (latex sap) of the Hevea Brasiliensis tree.

• Hand-harvested and sustainable:

The latex sap is extracted by gently incising the bark. This process, called "tapping," does not harm the tree. A single tree can produce latex for over 30 years, absorbing carbon dioxide and helping to combat climate change.

At the end of their productive cycle, the wood from the trees is recovered and regenerated to create Hevea stools and shelves, transforming every part of the plant into a precious resource.

Hevea partner plantations practice agroforestry and intercropping, integrating different plant species to support biodiversity and soil health.

Caucciù or Natural Rubber?

These terms are often confused, but they refer to the same green core: caucciù is the name of the pure, freshly harvested latex, while natural rubber is the name of the finished material after processing. Hevea uses both terms to celebrate both the botanical origin and the robustness of the final product.

Safe and hygienic:

Hevea natural rubber is a pure material, free from plastic, silicone, BPA, PVC, and phthalates, and is a valid natural alternative to traditional synthetic materials. Its softness makes it comfortable to touch and suitable for everyday use.

The products can be sanitized with hot water according to usage instructions and are designed to comply with the main international safety standards for early childhood, ensuring reliable and conscious use.

Biodegradable:

Unlike plastic, natural rubber is biodegradable. Choosing it means not only offering the best to your child but also making a planet-friendly choice.

2) Which teat do you choose for your baby?

HEVEA's Danish design isn't just beautiful, it's functional. Here's how to navigate the shapes:

Round (Cylindrical)

It's the classic shape that mimics the mother's nipple. It is the most recommended if you are breastfeeding.

Orthodontics (Anatomical)

Featuring an angled tip, it is designed to adapt to the palate and promote the correct development of the jaw and teeth.

Symmetrical (Teardrop)

A happy medium much loved by children because it's flat and less bulky in the mouth.

The Hevea unibody design eliminates joints and crevices, preventing the accumulation of dirt and bacteria. This safe design integrates three key innovations for baby's comfort:

Four ventilation holes: We double safety standards to maximize air circulation and prevent skin irritation.

Butterfly shield: Shaped to leave ample space for the nose and chin, reducing pressure on delicate areas of the face.

Vented nipple: The airflow system makes the nipple softer and more pliable, facilitating suction and protecting natural dental development.

3) Glass baby bottles, the purest choice.

For your baby's feeding, borosilicate glass represents the standard of excellence for purity and resistance.

Safety and European Quality:

HEVEA borosilicate glass is resistant to thermal shock and impact. It is completely free of plastic and silicone: zero risk of microplastic or petrochemical release into milk.

Impeccable Hygiene:

Glass does not absorb odors, does not stain, and does not retain flavors. It is dishwasher safe, ensuring deep and long-lasting cleaning.

Daily practicality:

The wide neck of the bottle facilitates accurate measurement of powdered milk without waste. The sealing system with pure rubber caps prevents any leakage, perfectly resisting bites and pulls.

Light ecological footprint:

In addition to the durability of the glass, every component (teats, caps, and packaging) is 100% biodegradable and sustainable, to protect the planet we will leave to our children.

4) Rubber care: how to preserve its durability

Natural rubber is a living and precious material. Follow these simple rules to ensure its durability and safety:

Proper sterilization:

Immerse the product in boiling water (off heat) for a maximum of 5 minutes.

Cleaning and Hygiene:

Wash daily with lukewarm water and mild soap. Absolutely avoid dishwashers and microwaves.

Storage:

Keep rubber away from heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent it from becoming sticky or drying out.

Safety (Tear Test):

Always check the nipple by pulling it in all directions. If you notice cracks or damage, replace it immediately. Replace the pacifier every 6-8 weeks for hygiene and to prevent wear and tear of the natural material.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions about Hevea products

Why is rubber better than silicone?

Natural rubber is a renewable and biodegradable resource, unlike silicone (which is an energy-intensive industrial process). It is softer and more flexible to the touch, offering a feeling more similar to maternal skin, ideal for comforting the baby.

Is it safe for latex allergy sufferers?

Although rubber is natural latex, HEVEA removes most of the allergenic proteins during production. However, if you already know that your child has been diagnosed with a latex allergy, we do not recommend using it as a precautionary measure.

Why does the pacifier seem "oily"?

This is completely normal: HEVEA products are treated with a thin film of vegetable oil to protect the natural rubber during transport. It is harmless and disappears with the first sterilization.

The color of the pacifier is changing, is it still safe?

Yes. As we only use natural pigments and no chemical preservatives, the rubber can darken or change shade over time (especially if exposed to sunlight). This is a natural process that does not compromise its safety.

I smell a faint vanilla scent, is it a chemical fragrance?

No, it's the natural smell of isoprene, an organic compound found in pure rubber. It's not a chemical additive and is absolutely safe for the baby.

Are colored pacifiers safe to put in the mouth?

Absolutely. We use natural vegetable or carbon-based pigments, FDA and Vegan certified, completely free of toxins, lead, or phthalates.
